Appointed Person

Course Overview

This half day (minimum 4hrs, ideally 6hrs) course covers the first aid needs of the Appointed Person in low risk workplaces such as offices, shops, and schools, where a nominated person will deal with emergency incidents. Participants learn essential lifesaving techniques. Certificates are valid for three years.

When an employer's first aid needs assessment identifies that a first aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement is to appoint a person to take charge of the first aid arrangements. These include looking after equipment, facilities and calling the emergency services. Arrangements should be made for an appointed person to be available to undertake these duties at all times when people are at work. No previous first aid experience is required to attend this course.
